There ought to be more than five stars for Steve Rader. He turned a very bad day - a garage door not working at all - into a good one with grace and humor. Arrived quickly, knew what he was doing and fixed the problem with my garage door so I could get my own work done. You can't ask for more than this. Reasonably priced; he is exactly what he should be. Thank you, Steve!

Steve, the owner and the operator, found the problem immediately with the repair that was done by another of Irvine's local companies. He repaired the door promptly and it is working better than the original install.... Should mention that he first defined the cause of the problem that the previous repair guy failed to identify. I am confident that this time it is done correctly and next time that I would be calling him when I will need to get a new door!

Steve and his team are as good as it gets.  I called them over Labor Day weekend, simply to leave a message so they could call me back on Tuesday.  Steve called me back within 10 mins on a Friday night, and scheduled a time to fit me in the next day on Saturday BEFORE his existing appointments.  He came by, checked out the worked needed and was back the Tuesday with the parts he needed to fix the door -- new springs to replace the broken and mismatched springs the prior service person installed.  Not only did he fix what we needed, but we did some much needed maintenance on the door.  Now I can barely hear the door when it rolls up! [I made] my very first Yelp review because Steve is an awesome and straight-up guy. Had to call someone in to fix a broken spring on my roll up garage door a month back. He came out the same day as my call and replaced both springs quickly and efficiently. He also took it upon himself to replace the garage door button which was dated.

Fast forward 1 month and somehow the wire coil came off the pulley and the garage door became misaligned. He came out and spent about 15 minutes to fix it with no charge. The problem wasn't even his fault, but that didn't matter. He took care of me. I'm very happy to leave him a 5 star review. I will definitely be calling him for future garage door needs. Discovered my torsional spring broke at 7:30am on a Monday morning, did some yelp/internet research and found Door Crafters of Irvine.  I gave them a call at 8:30am, Steve answered, quoted me a price and let me know he could come by between 10-11am the same morning.  By 10:30am he had already replaced the spring, diagnosed and fixed another problem I had brought up to him about my control box (broken wire which he showed me and promptly fixed) and finished it all under the original quoted price!  Steve is a professional's professional in terms of the quality and efficiency of work done as well as being extremely customer-focused (ready to explain things, gives honest answers, limits unnecessary costs to the consumer, and an all-around personable, great guy).

He installed the following Saturday, arriving precisely on schedule, and completing the job within 4 hours. I first met Steve when he installed my garage door back in 1994.  His work was so good and his prices so reasonable, when I remodeled my home years later ... I ordered a different style garage door from him.

He's really good about getting right to you when you have an emergency, and he'll always squeeze you in for little things ... like my son's garage door opener doesn't seem to work.

My garage door was broken on Thursday and I found Steve on Yelp.  I sent him some pictures and he confirmed that it was a broken spring.  He gave me recommendation and a reasonable quote.  I sent him my address at 10:00 pm, expecting him to reply the next day.  He confirmed my appointment immediately and I felt that somebody had taken over my issue already!

Great Service; One of my garage doors springs broke and needed to be fixed. I called Steve and he was at my house within an hour. My garage door was broken last night. It could not close. I called Steve in this morning, he came pretty soon and fix it. He is very nice person, I think. I will ask him next time.

My experience was simply the best! Steve arrived within an hour with the parts on his truck to fix my broken spring. Within half an hour I was good to go. He then retuned my entire system that was less than optimal because of a prior technician who did not know what he was doing and frankly ripped me off. My roll-up garage door wasn't working properly with the remote.  I called Steve at Door Crafters on a Friday night. He said it sounded like the circuit board in the unit was shot & said I should replace the drive unit.  He had a big job on Saturday so he fit me on the following Sunday morning.  He replaced the entire drive unit and related parts.  He was in and out in about 1.5 hours.  The door is now working fine.

It's been a pleasure having Steven replace the broken garage door spring and get the operation quiet again after many years of use.  He came  quickly after the call and did a great job.  It is like new!  It was also a pleasure talking with him; we will call him again for his services.

Our garage door wouldn't open on a Sunday morning. We tried to open it manually but couldn't open it  up high enough to get our car out--so there was clearly something wrong. We needed to get our car  out by early afternoon. After some research (internet and friends) I called about 20 different companies/people. Most did not work on Sundays, but a few tried to "walk me thorough" manually opening the door over the phone which was very nice, but  unsuccessful. I figured it was the motor because ours was making a weird noise and it didn't sound right.

I am not a garage door expert at all so it is hard for me to say if the prices I was quoted were  fair...but of the 2 companies that were open on Sunday  and willing to come over, one said they would charge $400-500 for a new motor plus a service call fee of $49.00 and the other said they could come over and take a look (for a service fee of $75) but they didn't carry motors but could run over to home depot to get one--and they range in price. That seemed odd to me...if you are a garage door company I would think you have these in stock or be able to give some kind of quote.

And then I found Steve.....Steve  answered the phone the first time. He also tried to walk me through the procedure over the phone, and when I was  still unsuccessful, he said he'd be over in 30 mins. He didn't work on Sundays either but took a few minutes to come over after church...which I really appreciated.

He immediately told us what was wrong (needed new motor), got the door open, got our car out and said he would fit us in the next day to install a new motor and the cost would be $350 for a better model than the one I had. Our complex put in the standard, cheaper models when built so this seemed like a reasonable amount--especially since he came over right away on a Sunday and found a way to fit us in the next day.

Steve is a very nice guy and very responsive and professional. In an out in about an hour. I will definitely call him again if the necessary and gladly refer any friends who may be in need of his services.

As a home owner, I have had different maintenance needs that have required outside service providers. Steve is by far the most professional person that has showed up at our doorstep. I have had other maintenance workers come into my home that have had absolutely no regard form my home or belongings (i.e. workers leaving foot prints on my couch that was located under a vent they were cleaning).
